Hey guys, thanks for the comments. I tried to take Marco and Alexasharlot's advice and push it more. I ended up with alot more living tissue. I have been staring at it way to long and need to get some fresh eyes on it.

    Crazy work!

Sure you gonna get this done in time?

    :O

If anything, It looks a bit unbalanced. Seems like it needs a more mass near the bottom (maybe a larger foot). or even just more length on the legs.

It's starting to look REALLY disturbing and menacing near the top, and you should maybe find ways to push those elements towards the lower part of it (something you could maybe freeform a bit in Zbrush).

    It's looking hella sick BTW!

      Default wicked

wicked is the only word i can think of.
      this thing rocks
I like the overly leanin body and the long nailed claw in contrary with the rounded fist. (a-symetric always favo by me.on this moment doin somethin similar)
Maybe overdoing it makes it stronger, like really bashin hammerlike fist and chirurgical twisted scalps on the other.
      lookin great so far
      humble regards kenter

I would be afraid that if he started adding these big chunky elements the really key part (the center of the robot, where your eyes are drawn to) might get lost and overcrowded.

Pretty much I like it the way it is I guess, don't want to see it ruined like many other robots by having random big weapons everywhere in an attempt to make him look "more badass", when he already looks super killer badass :P.
Duly noted. and you are right.

I was only suggesting that if this is the badass army between robots and demons, a sleeker design might be a bit frail when it goes up against a 400 foot demon lord. Some designs are for home use, and some designs are for the battlefield.

        like this shotgun for instance....

The frist one is something that people use in their homes. The second, is a military shotgun...not saying that it needs to have tons of barrels and handles and stupidly large design, just a more "sturdy" design. all of its moving parts are shielded, and its just overall sturdier.and therefore practical on the battlefield.

sorry for overrunning your thread jeff

With your new design, youre right, take yer eyes off it for a while, and go to the bookstore, browse some arts, and just find out what you enjoy the most. it will "come" to you. you cant force it. (thats my secret)....often when i have a big challenge, ill actually....(ready for this?) ...Go to the mall and look at chicks. HAHAHA. i know it sounds crazy, but you have to find your "ISM". and by ISM i mean, what gives you the most motivation. For me, its kung fu flicks, and chicks with big booties. Thats what gives my pieces "Marco-ism." When you find what made you the most excited about art in the first place, youll find motivation. Sitting down with a blank page is sort of intimidating. But when you find what you love, the ideas will flow. Stupid advice, i know. But its 8 fucking A.M and i felt like typing

          one on the left.

the bot has great design and with your modeling/texturing/rendering skills it would no doubt be a solid entry.

            hmmmm difficult choice.
they both have an interesting approach.
i think i'd go for the left one, but then give it an edge. make it a bit more over the top if you know what i mean. it's a bad-ass war machine but still a bit "ordinary looking". it needs something extra. a twist, an edge, a special sauce, a touch with the fairy broomstick etc. etc. :-)
            you catch my drift?
            awesomeness all the way dude!!
            good luck!

so i kept tweaking the proportions and components and started to stray dramatically from the concept, but i am liking the beefiness of him. what do you guys think?

The new upper torso/arms area looks badass. Makes him look a lot tougher. I think you should keep his original legs though. They were my favorite part of the older one.. and of course add a bunch of crazy guns, heh
