Default help with anatomy in perspective

    hey guys

Ive just some quick anatomy studies in order to try and understand how to do it in perspective and I must say it is really vexing me.

If anyones got any advice or can point me in the right direction that would be awesome as this has been a sticking point for me for ages

I had the same problem when I was starting off(and still do from time to time!)

One thing that really helped me out was that I started drawing the human figure kinda boxy to figure out how it would look in perspective. Kinda like a quick gesture. Try doing it like that and see if it works for you.

Yah, using boxes will set you on the right track. A box will allow you to study the form of the body and think of each side as a plane. Also, since you're drawing in perspective, go ahead and draw the horizon line, vanishing points and other guides (I know its easy to just think of these tools for landscape, but they are important for the figure as well).

If nothing else, PURCHASE Bridgeman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life and Michael D. Mattesi FORCE: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators: having these two books will save you years of frustration.

Well I think you have to draw a whole lot more boxes and tubes in perspective. Not exciting, yes, but try to draw robots for now. You need to build confidence with rotating shapes in 3D space and foreshortening first, worry about anatomy and proportion second.

i agree with tmth. drawing a lot more with boxes is helping . also, take your time, no need to rush while you can take all your time and suck everything you can take from those studies . I suggest you to draw a lot more from observation frist, to be more able to think and draw in 3D. and it takes time man, do be frustrated if it doesn't come in a few weeks . Just practice as hard as you can, and it'll come. i can also suggest you kevin chen for learning basic figures shapes http://analyticalfiguresp08.blogspot.com/ it'll help a lot !
