    Default noob - what is best for base mesh construction


    not sure if i should be posting this to this part of the forum but here goes.

    im normally a structural technician(revit products) but played with max way back when it was in DOS. wondering what is the best program (that i can learn quickly) to create a base mesh for a character to sculpt on in mudbox. since any program i download is gonna be a 30 day trial i want to get it right. i work 40+ hours a week so nights and weekends are my mudbox play time. any help is appreciated.

      I recommend Silo 2.1: http://nevercenter.com/silo/download/

      It's a small download and it's really simple to use. I've been trying it out the last few days and it's got everything I need for base mesh modeling and uv layout.

        wings is also a great tool for basemeshes and its free...

          thanks. will try them both. downloaded a max demo too but will hold on that until i try the others. thanks again.

            i think softimage is the best tool out there now. its all about preference. i just like how softimage has such a great toolbar layout and simple to use hotkeys.
