Default Creature Forge #55 - Sky Crawler

Name:  cf55.jpg
Views: 0
Size:  317.9 KB

Welcome to the Creature Forge, the CGHUB 2D challenge of illustrating creatures of all shapes and sizes!

Creature #55 :: Sky Crawler

Deadline: May 8th 2012 11:59pm [PST]

Challenge Overview:
Task for this challenge is to come up with a creature that suits the name: Sky Crawler. The only restriction with this design is that you MUST AVOID conventional wings we have grown used to seeing on birds.

Final Delivery:
We ask that you submit one image that is your creature fully illustrated with a background, and another simple diagram explaining how the "sky crawler" stays elevated in the air. This diagram does not need to be a complex illustration, just a simple sketch that clearly explains your take on a new method of flying.

Good Luck and be sure to post any questions or comments in this thread.

--------------------------------------

“Please don't keep everything secret, working on your image in private only to post it at the very last hour as a surprise. The point of sharing sketches and work in progress material is so everyone can learn from each other, receive crits, compliments and improve their skills in a classroom/workshop like environment. There are no teachers and no students per say, but try to offer help to others when possible. Please be open to receiving crits, and paint-overs or mock ups of your work, as we are all here to participate, have fun, learn, grow and enjoy what each week has to offer.” --Mike Corriero

Interesting challenge...coming up with a creature that serves justice to it's name by itself is quite challenging allready. I'll definitely take part in this

            It is a cool topic, if a little difficult to comprehend; something that crawls through the sky? I took this opportunity to use alchemy to come up with some random sketches, took the ones I liked and drew over a bit. Not sure yet which one I'll choose yet?

              When agitated, it descends from great heights, smashes into its victim and releases its noxious fart gas from its rear ventral sack, resulting in a quick death.

                I decided to start my creature from a silhouette (which is still quite rough). It's the first time I take part in such a challenge so I'm a bit anxious .
