thanks man! the lighting is setup the way inorder to impose a certain authentic mood to it. Gladiators haven't been around for a while so i tried to mimic that old washed out mood. with the grainy backdrop i tried to mimc the feel of sand and the warm color filter i chose for my main light kind of does that.

I am fairly new to mental ray and by no means know everything about simple ways of doing it better, which is why I am going to play with it more on my own free time.
