ALEX OLIVER BIO:
Alex Oliver was born in Fortaleza City, Ceara State, Brazil. He is a passionate sculptor and designer with extensive knowledge in Human Anatomy, and is world renowned as an artist and teacher. Over the years, Alex has dedicated himself to sculpture and fine arts in a constant search for improvement in his work. Alex’s past work includes work as a Character Modeler at Blizzard Entertainment in Irvine, CA. He has additionally worked on projects for National Geographic Channel and Discovery Channel. Alex has used his extensive knowledge of traditional and digital sculpting as an invited beta tester for Pixologic’s ZBrush, the film industry’s standard digital sculpting software, for three consecutive years. Alex has additionally taught Traditional + Digital Sculpture for five years at the Melies School of Film, 3D, and Animation in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where his work has been highly influential. Currently Alex is dedicated to his own studio and teaches Workshops in Fortaleza, Brazil and abroad.

ALEX OLIVER WORKSHOP INFORMATION:
During this intensive workshop, based partly on study from the live model, Alex will discuss the importance of having a strong background in traditional art for lending greater realism and expression to traditional sculpting and character creation. Alex will first guide students in creating a drawing for their traditional character sculptures, and then guide them through the process of sculpting their designs. From Drawing to Sculpture, this Workshop will demonstrate the main points to be considered for creating greater realism in Traditional Character Sculpture. Participants will both Draw and Sculpt traditionally during the creation process.
