Welcome to the Creature Forge, the CGHUB 2D challenge of illustrating creatures of all shapes and sizes!

Creature #68 :: Battle Monster

Deadline: Jan 14th 2013 11:59pm [PST]

Challenge Overview:
For this round we want you to illustrate a battle monster; a giant radioactive, over the top creature that would be Godzilla's arch-nemesis. There are no limits to style, cartoony to realistic, all is game.

Final Delivery:
One image of your creature with a background that shows it's giant scale, preferably Tokyo/Japan as that is the main base of operations of Godzilla.
Optional: draw Godzilla fighting your creature BUT, your battle monster MUST be the main focus of the image.

--------------------------------------

Good Luck and be sure to post any questions or comments in this thread. ;)

--------------------------------------

“Please don't keep everything secret, working on your image in private only to post it at the very last hour as a surprise. The point of sharing sketches and work in progress material is so everyone can learn from each other, receive crits, compliments and improve their skills in a classroom/workshop like environment. There are no teachers and no students per say, but try to offer help to others when possible. Please be open to receiving crits, and paint-overs or mock ups of your work, as we are all here to participate, have fun, learn, grow and enjoy what each week has to offer.” --Mike Corriero

a while back I painted this for CA from a similar topic...it'd be fun to produce another giant radioactive beastie, but I think I'll sit out this time, unless I change my mind later on...

Started with this red demon but I didn't like the pose. I used it to overdraw the facial features I liked and using some foto referencing material I'm currently going this far:

How about an actual croc, rather than an iguana.

Added some color and fotoreference for posing and later reference. Still heavily learning on the setting department.
