It's adding on to an old story. The world is old, but the story is new. And bringing life back to an old story means they can go their vault and release "The Wizard of Oz" in a limit premium HD super dee-dooper yellow brick road edition for some pre-release profit.
I was all into it, until that last shot of the super-rubbery, poorly rendered arm clawing at the table.....BAD.
And the lion and scarecrow and fucking robot*??? (and todo????)
Just to be clear, is this a movie about the actual wizard from wizard of oz?
IMDB and Wikipedia lists it as a prequel that tells the story of how Oz, portrayed by James Franco, becomes the wizard.
